Pre-production
Pre-production is essential when it comes to the film making process as this is where your proper planning comes up. This is the part where most of your thought process occurs as without proper planning, your production could eitiher run over time, risk going over the budget you have or even find yourself in the editing room with missing content. This is a crucial role in the success of your project. A Production managemer is then incharge of whenn you plan, organise and maintain direct control of a production. People are hired to keep control of this as they oversee how advertisements are created from scratch, the process of how they are maid and even the way they are distributed in websites, television ads, newspapers, films or even magazines.
Concept and Screenplay
This is the area where you develop the structure of your story, the storyline and the plot. Usually when creating this, it is drawn from a personal experience or a product of your wild imagination. In my case, This animation is about a girl who has conquered all items on the McDonalds menu in order to find her favorite burger and as a result, she showcases her findings in a lot of specific details to her friends who are impressed with her eating habits.A script then makes it easier for both the editor and the crew/cast members to follow through and know what they have to do/say and when. An advertising anime script however, doesn't have much going in for it as a normal script would have more for the editor to understand better. Anime relies more on the storyboards. Below is the script followed by a quick sketch of the story line on a storyboard.
Production roles for your crew
Cynthia Van Es
For the main actress voice over, I will use myself since I know what type of voice tone I am looking for in the main use of dialogue. I can easily practise these high pitched voice overs with the help of my Japanese uncle guiding me with the pronunciations. This is why I will do the voice-over for the main part of the animation and give the other roles to other cast members.
Roshni Sarkar
Roshni has a natural high pitched voice, she was born to play the role of the small girls voice over as she not only knows the Japanese accent but has experience working with other artists when recording such voice overs.
Alex Gili
I felt as Alex would be perfect as she has an admirable passion for watching animated shows when she has free time or even while she is doing work! You want any recommendations for anime shows? She is the person to go to.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE:
In order to make sure everyone turns up on the right day at the right time, we create a schedule. This schedule also makes it easier for us to remain on top of our tasks without falling behind so this is a cruital part of pre-production since you will always have a deadline.
equipment being used:
- SD Cards
- Computer and mouse
- Microphone with pop-screen
- Headphones
- Tripod for Microphone
software being used:
Fire alpaca
FireAlpaca is a powerful, yet free painting and drawing tool that is compatible with both Windows and Mac devices. The program is crafted with interestingly simple features and functions that allow the user to draw illustrations with ease. At the same time, it’s a reliable painting application that is speedy and delivers desirably even with an old computer. This is the website I will use in order to draw and colour most of the images and their backgrounds used to a near-professional standard.
Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop CC is a photo, image, and design editing software built for professional designers, photographers, and artists. The imaging and design app is a part of Adobe Creative Cloud service, and allows users to design websites, mobile apps, posters, banners, and icons through the aid of its easy-to-use templates and intuitive tools. It also provides professional photography tools which help create and enhance pictures, transforming them into amazing works of art. I will use this in order to create my animated Mcdonalds logo.
Adobe PREMIERE PRO
Adobe Premiere Pro is a desktop video editing application for professionals and enthusiasts. This software, used by Hollywood workers, lets users turn raw footage into stunning cinematic products. With Adobe Premiere Pro, editors have access to tools that enable them to do more than just basic editing. The application also gives them the means to adjust color, fine-tune audio, and more. in order to join together my clips, audios and images, I will use this as I have a lot of experience using this app.
Production
There are a bunch of principles associated with creating an advertisement. It should be single minded and deliver only one message so the audience can remember it without being confused due to the amount of information handed to them. You would also need to see some type of brand association such as a logo or a specific product which is associated with the brand. The advertisement you make should also be unique. The more unique it is, the better chance you will get of it being remembered. The last thing you should consider would be the purchase intentions. You want your advertisement to be bough, You want it to be liked, you want it to be effective so you get rehired again and create your own successful brand image.
I began my production stage by installing Fire Alpaca onto my desktop. This application was introduced to me by a fellow college. I spent time trying to learn the different tools, access points and brushes by experimenting. I then began my animating process. After this, as I drew more frames, I became more accurate and had better colouring/highlighting skills which I picked up.
I had to keep in mind that a television commercial usually lased one of the following amount of seconds:
- 3 minutes
- 60 seconds
- 45 seconds
- 30 seconds
- 15 seconds
- 10 seconds

Post-production process
There are two ways of doing post production. You could either do it the film way by. Shoot film and edit on film editing equipment or the digital way. Getting all of your rushes digitised. Since I drew all of my frames, I had no choice but to do it the second way. I decided to first gather my crew together, film the voice over and then used the following tutorial so they sounded more anime-like.
Show rough draft of product to focus group
Feedback:
- Make it move more, it is too still and gets boring really fast
-Maybe add some subtitles so it reaches a wider audience and follows the anime conventions
-It isnt too clear what brand this advertisement is for, make it clearer somehow?
-Make it more entertaining, add pop up images
-Add a better background instead of plain black backgrounds - its boring.

Changes to finished product following audience feedback
I then followed all the advice given to me since I wanted my audience to be happy and I also created this digitalised logo of McDonalds using photoshop movie editor since I have used it previously when creating a short animation for fun.
