Aim and purpose
In this unit, I will build a practical approach to the process of creative television and video writing by developing my skills in background research, proposal writing and script writing technique. Additionally, I will consider the commissioning and

On completion of this unit I should:
- Know about the commissioning process for writing for television and video.
- Be able to research, collect and prepare background materials.
- Be able to produce script proposals.
- Be able to pitch script proposals.
- Be able to produce scripts for television and video production.
scenario
You have been invited to submit a script for 30 minute television documentary on the Sultanate of Oman. This can take the shape of any feature which shows the country in a positive light that will be included in a series of documentaries promoting tourism within the country. You must produce the first 10 minutes of screen time in the form of finished script pages, accompanied by extended scene by scene description of the rest of the programme, the proposal of which will be pitched to the series producers before submitting the final script for approval.
